Auricular Acupuncture by vegetable seed
Auricular Acupuncture uses the external surface of the ear to treat pathological conditions in other parts of the body. Just like Korean hand acupuncture, the points on the ear can be punctured by very fine and short needles, and can also be stimulated using ear seeds. These seeds are from the Vaccaria plant. They had been soaked in the extract of several herbal medications before being dried and packed in individual packages as shown on the right.

The ear is a microcosm of the entire body and has various points corresponding to its associated organs and tissues. In the treatment process, I stick the Vaccaria seeds on the necessary points and ask patients to massage them whenever they get chance. Ear seeds may be left on the ear for up to two weeks. Therefore, the effects of treatment can last longer. This technique is usually combines with traditional acupuncture for faster efficacy. It is particularly good for health issues such as insomnia, weight control, smoking cessation, and pain management. The image on the right just shows some points related to smoking cessation.
